On June 24 (local time), Microsoft released content that introduces new features of Windows 10 version 2004 (May 2020 Update) for IT professionals such as corporate IT managers. Of these, it has been clarified that it will mainly remove the update deferral feature for corporate users.
Enterprise versions such as Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise have so far had the option of deferring major updates, including Windows feature updates, for up to 365 days. It was prepared as a period for the management department to manage updates and to check whether there are any defects in the applications used. However, in Windows 10 version 2004, which began in late May, this option was discontinued. Like the home edition, the delay is up to 35 days.
Microsoft changed its policy to install updates in 2019, allowing users to choose the install time, except for the under-supported version. As a result, most devices are only updated once a year. It wasn’t what Microsoft wanted.
Of course, it cannot be changed in the settings screen, but if you use local group policy, you can postpone it as before. Microsoft says it’s always better to use the latest version for security and support. On the other hand, problems may arise after major updates. As it may not be possible for corporate users to feel relieved, it seems that in this case, it is possible to postpone the group policy change in the end. Related information can be found here .
