On October 25 (local time), YouTube is appealing to producers to again comply with the content quality principles for children and families that apply to content classified as made for children from November 1 (local time).
YouTube has distributed YouTube Kids as a children-only app, but if the quality of content uploaded after November 1 is low, the channel will be deleted from YouTube Kids without violating the community guidelines. This includes videos that are overly commercial and encourage children to buy or promote critical attitudes.
In addition to YouTube Kids, it is said that channels that mainly target minors or are not classified for children need to comply with the content quality principle for children or families. Channels that do not comply with the aforementioned low-quality content may have their YouTube Partner Program suspended and may have limited or no ads at all.
Google announced a new parental control feature in February 2021, and in August it is strengthening the protection of minors and children, including making videos uploaded by underage creators private by default. The new policy that will take effect in November is part of this.
YouTube says its ultimate goal is to reward trusted creators for creating high-quality content for children and families, while cultivating a safe and rich environment for families. Related information can be found here.
