Airbus, an aircraft manufacturer, is working on a passenger plane, MAVERIC, which integrates the wing and the fuselage. And it is said that a prototype was made in a small size of 2m in length and 3.2m in width and verified with a flight demo.
According to Airbus, the aircraft is in the form of a blended wing body. Of course, this concept itself existed 100 years ago. The advantage of integrating the fuselage and wings is that air resistance is reduced and fuel economy can be reduced by up to 20%. In addition, this shape can be advantageous for large-sized aircraft as it can secure a wide space for passengers and cargo on board.

The video shows a flight experiment conducted in France in June 2019. In addition, the interior is also being conceived through concept design, giving a luxurious feel like a futuristic lounge from seats to ceilings. A display that doubles as a touch panel on the wall was also placed near the window. In addition to the 6-seat arrangement, two rows of bench seats for three people were placed on the half of the cabin, and 10 rows were placed inside.
Maverick (Model Aircraft for Validation and Experimentation of Robust Innovative Controls) is meant to be a model aircraft for validation and experimentation of powerful and innovative control methods. The development team works as an in-house company of Airbus, but until recently, it is said to have been a top secret project. Related information can be found here .
