A research team at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Tokyo is unveiling a new composite material with self-healing capabilities developed with hints from the lizard tail and starfish arm. This material, called MWCNTs-PBS, is a composite material composed of PBS and MWCNTs. If you cut the material made in this way into two and try to attach it, it starts to join itself. Of course, it is not as fast as the video, and it takes about 6 hours to fully recover.

This material is expected to be used for robot actuators and transforming soft controllers. One controller detects the gesture you press with your finger, and turns it into a long touch button that can be used like a piano keyboard by placing several. Also, if you attach two controllers, you can wrap it around the user’s wrist and function as a slider device like a bracelet. If you have a lot of friends and enjoy the game, you can consider dividing the 2 controllers into 2 and making them into 4, and then attaching the controllers back to 2 when they are all played.
There are also other reusable casts. If you wrap it around the injured arm and leg, you can heal your own plastic surgery and injuries. It is difficult to expect the same flexibility as the T-1000 from Terminator, but similar types of attempts could be made. Related information can be found here .
