On October 27th (local time), Apple announced that it would increase app store prices in countries such as Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Russia, and South Africa. Apple’s price fluctuations affect in-app billing, but it hasn’t disclosed in detail whether subscription-type services such as Apple Music and iCloud will also increase prices.
The developer announced that the app store price should be updated due to changes in taxes or foreign exchange rates, and that app and in-app payment prices in the app store will increase in Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.
Apple also said that India already pays an 18% goods and services tax, but in addition, it needs to pay a new 2% equalization tax. This explains the reason for the price increase in India, where 20% of sales are required to be paid in tax. In Indonesia, developers headquartered abroad have to pay 10% new VAT, leading to a price increase.
In Iceland and Albania, apps are also sold at prices plus VAT adjusted for app and in-app payments. App developers can access the new price list to see how the price of selling their applications is affected. Related information can be found here .
