360 degrees anywhere… Spherical virtual reality simulator

Eight360 Nova is a virtual reality simulator that takes you in a cockpit that looks like a giant soccer ball and rotates a sphere using three omni wheels. It is a motion simulator that controls virtual reality in a sphere.

Developed by New Zealand startup Eight360, the cockpit is not connected anywhere, so it is okay to rotate in any direction and how. In addition, by adding a powerful motor, you can rotate the sphere 180 degrees at super high speed in 1 second. It turns faster than the F-4 fighter, so it’s lowering its power.

In addition, the acceleration experience G can be reproduced with a tilt, and a device that vibrates in the seat can feel tactile feedback, so the virtual world in the screen can be faithfully reproduced.

Because the wheel rotates in a straight line in only one direction, bicycles and cars can only go back and forth. However, if you regularly place a small wheel that rotates in the 90-degree direction on the tire, it becomes possible to move suddenly vertically while facing forward. By placing three such omniwheels, which can rotate horizontally and vertically, the sphere can change its angle with complex movements. Eight360 Nova is expected to be active in various fields, including some contracts as training simulators in the military, forestry, and mining fields.

This simulator can be used in PC games (Digital Combat Simulator, X-Plane, NoLimits 2 Roller Coaster Simulation), but the lineup is expected to increase in the future. Related information can be found here .
