Amazon announced on November 11 (local time) that it added a new feature to Alexa, allowing users to guess user intent and make suggestions for themselves. Of course, it only supports English yet, but it is already available.
For example, if you ask how long the tea is to brew, the answer is 5 minutes and suggests whether to set a 5 minute timer. It also provides other information about the location, such as displaying a live camera image when asked about the weather. Also, when a TV program is asked, it works as a reminder of the program time and recording reservation.
At first glance, it may seem like an easy response, but according to Amazon, it is based on a sophisticated algorithm. It’s not appropriate to guess the intent of every question, so the first time you search for a chicken recipe, you’ll find a lot of wrong suggestions, such as suggesting a chicken cry.
Whether to guess the intention and make a reverse suggestion uses a trigger model that considers several aspects of the dialogue context. Therefore, when an appropriate context is found, the contents that are considered to be the most effective are suggested. Since the content of the proposal is learned through Alexa conversations with the user, the more useful conversations with Alexa continue, the more useful suggestions will increase, making it easier to use.
