Rolls-Royce consortium unveils plans to build 16 small reactors

If the British government recognizes that the British Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Enterprise Alliance, led by British industrial company Rolls Royce, will build 16 nuclear reactors over the next 20 years, it will create 40,000 jobs in 15 years until the 2030s. Announced plans to do it.

The British SMR consortium is comprised of other Rolls-Royce construction companies, Laing O’Rourke, and the National Atomic Energy Research Institute. The consortium will supply up to 440 MW per small modular reactor with plans to build 16 units. It can supply 450,000 singers and enough power for urbanization.

The UK government is expected to invest £200 million into the consortium as part of its green economy recovery spending plan. The consortium predicted that if construction progresses, 6,000 jobs will be created over five years. It also revealed that by the 2030s, long-term employment of 34,000 people will lead to job creation of 40,000 in total.

The consortium emphasized that the construction of the nuclear reactor will revitalize the relevant community and continue to produce economic activity for the 60-year design lifespan. Related information can be found here .
