NVIDIA GeForce Now releases beta version for iOS Safari

Nvidia announced on November 19 (local time) that the beta version of the cloud game service GeForce NOW will respond to iOS Safari.

GeForce Now is a system that delivers games processed in a high-performance system in the cloud in the form of streaming. It is a cloud game service that allows you to enjoy the latest 3D games on a PC with weak specifications. GeForce Now was playable on Windows, macOS, and Android Chrome OS, but the iOS app was not available because the monthly payment method violated the App Store terms and conditions.

When Nvidia confirmed that it was difficult to produce an iOS app version with Apple implementing a payment method without in-app billing, it was recommended to develop a web app that would be okay. NVIDIA developed GeForce Now according to WebRTC, and released the beta version on November 19, 2020.

GeForce Now supports Fortnite, a popular game whose iOS version has been discontinued due to a dispute between Apple and developer Epic Games, which means that Fortnite can be played again on the iPhone.

The iOS Safari version of GeForceNow can be played by starting Safari on an iPhone or iPad and accessing it through the website ( https://play.geforcenow.com ). However, at the time of announcement, it is only available in North America and Europe.

In addition, Google Stadia, another cloud game service that has not delivered an iOS app version so far, is also planning to release an iOS Safari version by preventing in-app billing as a web app version adopted by Nvidia. Related information can be found here .
