Liberty Media, which operates F1, is said to be actively negotiating with Amazon over racing streaming.
Reportedly, this consultation is aimed at attracting younger fans, and it is based on the fact that younger generations tend to enjoy live broadcasts through sports broadcast streaming services rather than pay TV and free broadcast highlight broadcasts, which have been the main pillars so far.
The negotiations with Amazon are led by Liberty Media CEO Chase Carrey. He said the company is in practical discussions with Amazon and all global digital platforms.
Since 2017, F1 has been promoting a policy to appeal to the younger generation who prefer digital and to attract new fans. To this end, it has increased its exposure by launching its own service, F1 TV, or signing a production contract for the documentary Drive to Survive through Netflix for three seasons from 2019 to 2021.
If negotiations between F1 and Amazon are established, it will likely be available for viewing through Amazon Prime Videos. Amazon Prime Video broadcasts live in the English Football Premier League and the US NFL. Related information can be found here .
