Tesla’s Autopilot Full Self Driving (FSD) feature is still in beta, but a model 3 owner has released a time-lapse video that moves almost automatically from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
The FSD beta, which began offering in late October last year, is improving every day. Looking at the video on the way from the suburbs to the city by exiting the city and taking the highway, the driver’s intervention is limited to a few. It can be said that it is surprising to realize autonomous driving that looks no different from humans so far by using data from Tesla cars participating in the test as well as cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors.
However, the FSD function is still not complete enough to automatically perform all autonomous driving tasks. For example, when changing lanes, you need driver assistance to avoid exhibiting weird behavior or falling debris on the road. Also, when using the Super Charger, a Tesla exclusive charger on the way, the driver must control the car by himself.
In addition, the driving itself is also in California with a warm climate, which is advantageous for Tesla vehicles that rely on camera images for autonomous driving. If the area has a lot of snow, the area will be white, so it is difficult to run without borrowing human hands if there are no sensors of a different kind than that of a rider equipped with a general autonomous vehicle as well as images.
This video shows what is in the FSD function under good conditions, but traveling between cities by autonomous driving in all environments, countries and regions is not simple. It still takes time to make this possible. Related information can be found here .
