Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 480, a low-cost smartphone SoC. Equipped products are expected to appear in the first half of 2021.
The Snapdragon 480 is the first product supporting 5G in the Snapdragon 4 series, Qualcomm’s low-cost smartphone SoC. With the Kryo 460 CPU and Adreno 619 GPU running at up to 2GHz, the CPU and GPU performance increased by up to 100% and the AI performance by 70% compared to the previous generation Snapdragon 460.
In addition, it supports millimeter wave and 5G key functions such as Sub6, SA, NSA, TDD, FSDD, and DSS. 5G downlink speed is 2.5Gbps. In addition, it supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.2.
Since the Snapdragon 4 series is a SoC that is mainly installed in low-cost smartphones in the range of 200,000 won and 300,000 won, 5G support is expected to become more full-fledged in the entry-level smartphones with the appearance of the Snapdragon 480. Related information can be found here .
