Wikipedia sets the code of conduct for the new Internet era

In an environment where more than half of the world’s population has access to the Internet, the progress of polarization and increasing online violence are pointed out as the Internet population increases. In response to this situation, the Wikimedia Foundation has established a Universal Code of Conduct for the new era of the Internet, in order to cope with harassment and negative behavior across Wikimedia, including Wikipedia.

More than 1,500 volunteers from 19 wiki projects representing 30 languages on 5 continents participated in the writing of the Code of Conduct. There are other cases in the IT industry that set this kind of code of conduct in the local community, but because there are many long and opaque standards, it is said to contain it in 1,600 words.

The norm first indicates that in accordance with the mission of the wiki, everyone who participates in the Wikimedia project will: Helping to create a world where everyone can share freely in the sum of all knowledge, throwing away prejudices or prejudices, and becoming a member of the global community. In addition, in the collected work, we try to double vote for accuracy and verifiability.

Specifically, they respect each other or demand courtesy, and on the other hand, it stipulates that harassment, abuse of power, and destruction of privileged content are not allowed.

The Wikimedia Foundation and the participants leading the process will further discuss how to implement this standard in each language version. Related information can be found here .
