The UAE is increasing its presence in the space sector by sending astronauts to space in 2019 and launching the Mars rover Hope in 2020. To further accelerate this movement, it announced that it has set up a space court to settle future space disputes.
The advance into space was initially carried out as a national project, but in the long run, private companies are increasingly participating, such as launching a private spacecraft. However, there are no courts specialized in the space activities of private companies. As commerce in space became more global, judicial law was also needed.
The Space Court will be set up at the Dubai International Financial Center Court, and companies and institutions headquartered in the UAE and abroad can be an alternative to choosing the Space Court as a venue for resolution when space-related disputes arise. In the future, the space court will create guides to support space-related disputes or train judges to become experts in space-related disputes. Related information can be found here .
