Spaces, a voice SNS developed by Twitter, has functions similar to Club House and plans to release new functions such as Super Follow, a paid following function. Kayvon Beykpour, head of Twitter’s consumer products division, said in an interview that Spaces will be adding conversation recording capabilities.
Launched in March 2020, the Clubhouse is gaining tremendous popularity among artists and politicians, and in January 2021, the number of users reached 2 million. Meanwhile, Twitter also developed Spaces, a voice chat room with functions similar to Clubhouse, and began beta testing for iOS in December 2020, and began beta testing for Android, which Clubhouse does not provide on March 2, 2021.
The clubhouse prohibits divulging or unauthorized copying of conversations. But Beickforer said in an interview that he would add a recording function to Spaces. He said that the Spaces recording function would be really powerful, but he expressed his intention to give the recording a strong permission setting, saying that it would be important to agree with the host and all participants, as the chat host and all participants may not feel good about the recording.
Reports say that if you call a company or government office, a message will appear that the conversation can be recorded, but it is expected that it will take the form of displaying a pop-up indicating that Twitter is being recorded.
Application distribution platforms, such as the App Store and Google Play, collect a portion of the revenue from the application program or in-app billing as a fee by the developer. In April 2020, it was reported that Epic Games, the developer of the popular game Fortnite, sued Apple for claiming that the app store fee was too expensive.
Since Twitter also has a dedicated app delivered through the App Store and Google Play, a fee will also be charged for the paid following feature, Super Follow. So, in an interview, I asked Beikpore about paying a 30% commission on the app distribution platform, and he hasn’t received even a dollar so far. Said that it could make a profit. Of course, we are interested in making profits from $7 to $9, but for now, Twitter has expressed its position to accept app distribution platform fees by saying that it is not focusing on app distribution platform fees.
