On March 19, 2021, the Fagradalsfjall volcano located on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland erupted and poured out magma. A photographer who flies a drone in a crater where lava is boiling is drawing attention by releasing pictures of drones damaged by high heat and videos taken with drones.
Icelandic drone photographer Garðar Ólafs told Instagram that the eruption of a volcano 15 minutes away from home is a special feeling. Reykjanes Peninsula is an area of Iceland that hasn’t been noticed at all. He said it was done.
Having filmed various oriental images of Isla’s nature over the past few years, he immediately used a DJI drone to grasp and shoot directly above the crater at the explosion site. He said that he thought it would be nice to see the crater from directly above by flying the drone on the volcano. It was raised immediately and managed to return, but the body part exposed to high heat was said to have melted. In addition, the lights and sensors located at the bottom of the drone were also damaged, and the system made an error when flying. Related information can be found here.
