Apple has removed Unjected, an anti-vaccine dating app, from the App Store for violating COVID-19-related misinformation guidelines. The app is called a place for people who want to support medical autonomy and freedom of the press, and the Android version is still available on Google Play.
According to reports, the Unjected app started service in May. It explains that you can create user profiles or exchange matching messages with other people. This app is basically a dating service for anti-vaccineists. Coincidentally, it was also called Tinder for anti-vaccineists because it coincided with the time when matching apps such as Tinder 1 and Bumble added the recommended benefits to follow the Corona 19 vaccination. .
Recently, Unjected added social feeds such as Facebook and Twitter. This was the trigger for Google Play review in the Android version, as it turned out that the content, including misinformation posted by users, was not sufficiently cracked down. Google sent an email to the maker of Unjected and said it found the vaccine to be a violation of the rules in a post stating that it was a nanotechnology microchip that connects the vaccine to a 5G network by a person claiming the vaccine is an experimental mRNA genetic modification or biological weapon.
On July 16, Google gave the producers of Unjected a two-week grace period to choose between deleting the post or having it removed from the App Store. As a result, Unjected will eventually delete the social feed. However, Unjected co-founder Shelby Thompson, along with the post, said it would resurrect social feeds and would make them undetected, so it doesn’t look like they’re giving up their anti-vaccine activity.
On the other hand, the iOS version of the Unjected app was delivered from the App Store until recently, and as media inquiries about it continued, Apple deleted it. Apple said to the developer of Unjected that it was inappropriate to mention the spread of COVID-19 in the concept and theme as the reason for the deletion.
It is said that Apple rejected the unjected during the first screening process and approved the app after changing it to comply with the COVID-19 related app policy. However, it was noted that the developer later spoke out to users or updated the app, but as a result, it again fell out of compliance.
It also added that Unjected encourages users not to use certain words to avoid detection. This behavior violates the App Store review guidelines, where developers’ apps will be removed from the App Store if they try to cheat the system.
Opponents of COVID-19 vaccination have become a significant social problem, including protests around the world. Everyone is free what they think and what they think. However, it is necessary to act according to correct knowledge and be careful not to spread false information. Related information can be found here.
