Chevrolet has made it clear that the Silverado, an electric pickup truck under development, will be equipped with its own AWS system.
Pick-up trucks are larger than passenger cars and have difficulties in handling, so you may experience difficulties in multi-level parking lots or crossed narrow alleys. In this regard, the manufacturer is faithful to the support function. For example, Rivian R1T is preparing a tank-turning function, and GMC’s Hummer EV is preparing a crab walking mode.
Chevrolet also plans to equip the Silverado EV with AWS and make it possible to improve steering control when driving at high speeds with a minimum turning radius at low speeds while staring at the rear wheels. However, what we can confirm now is that the term “AWS” installed in Silverado EV is at the level of a general functional category, and it is not surprising compared to advanced special functions such as R1T and Hummer EV. Since Chevrolet did not disclose detailed specifications, it cannot be denied that it may have hidden additional features in addition to the slightly announced this time.
Production of the Silverado is scheduled for late 2022, and Chevrolet has yet to disclose detailed specifications. Rumors suggest that it will share the Hummer EV electric drivetrain with its Ford F-150 competitor and achieve a range of 640 km with an Ultimate Battery developed by GM. Although it shares a drivetrain, the Silverado is expected to be a reasonable model compared to the Hummer. The current Silverado petrol model costs around $50,000.
