TikTok and Shopify to start testing shopping function

TikTok and e-commerce platform Shopify announced on August 24 (local time) a new way to guide users to Shopify from their TikTok profile screen or video.

Add a shopping tab to your profile screen in your TikTok business account, TikTok for Business. It allows you to open a mini front store where you can pay by syncing with the Shopify product catalog and connecting directly to your online store.

In addition to the Shopping tab, Shopify sellers can tag items on their TikTok posts, and click the tag to go to their online site. The shopping feature is enrolled in pilot programs in the US and UK, with some users in Canada coming in the coming weeks. In the next few months, it will be deployed in other regions as well.

TikTok and Shopify announced their partnership in October 2020, and so far allowed them to create TikTok videos and more that can be linked directly to the Shopify repository. This announcement can be said to further advance this relationship. Of course, it is only a function for TikTok for Business accounts, but for creators who develop their own brands, it can be one of the powerful means of inducing them to an online shopping mall.
