iOS version of Clubhouse supports spatial audio

Clubhouse, a voice SNS that has abolished the invitation system and has become available to anyone, has started providing updates that support the spatial audio function in the iOS app to make conversations with participants more realistic. The number of users who provide this feature will gradually increase, and the same feature will be provided in the Android version soon.

Thanks to the adoption of spatial audio, it is possible to intuitively recognize not only the voice but also who the other person is in that place, because it sounds as if multiple conversation partners are speaking in different places. To put it simply, everyone can feel vividly as if they are in the same room.

To use the spatial audio feature, you need earphones or headphones that support the iOS Dolby Atmos feature, such as AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. However, there is no explanation for this in the clubhouse’s description. In the case of the Android version, it seems to be related to whether the smartphone used first supports Dolby Atmos.

Also, when an app update is applied, spatial audio is enabled by default. Of course, if you think you don’t need this feature, you can turn it off in the settings menu. Related information can be found here.
