Apple announced the acquisition of Primephonic, a streaming service specialized in classical music, on August 30 (local time). Accordingly, it is said that the Primephonic service is scheduled to end on September 7th.
Primephonic is a streaming service that handles more than 3.5 million classical music, providing a search service specializing in classical music, playlists carefully selected by experts, radio functions, and music commentary functions. Apple says the acquisition will give Apple Music users access to Primephonic playlists, search functions, and detailed information.
The announcement also revealed that a dedicated classical music app that combines additional features with the Primephonic UI will be released in 2021. Oliver Schuscher, vice president of Apple Music and Beats, said that being able to provide the benefits of primephonic to Apple Music drivers would be a great step forward for the classical music industry. The company promises to spread classical music and connect a new generation of musicians with a new generation of listeners. According to Apple and Primephonic, the Primephonic service will end on September 7, 2021. As a remedy for users, Primephonic granted a six-month free trial of Apple Music and is accepting refunds until November 30, 2021.
