The University of California research team, who led the study, analyzed the genomes of one Denisovan, two Neanderthals, and 279 Homo sapiens, and investigated to what extent previous human DNA was passed down to modern humans. As a result of the survey, among Homo sapiens, Africans had 0.096-0.46% common genes with Neanderthals, and non-Africans had 0.73-1.3% overlap with Neanderthals.
