It is said that Magic Leap has successfully raised $500 million in funding and plans to release the second-generation headset, the Magic Leap 2, next year.
Magic Leap CEO Peggy Johnson said that Magic Leap 2 will be a device that can be used all day. Rendering images and videos were also released, but it looks slimmer than the first Magic Leap One. The function is said to be easier to immerse in the augmented reality world by adjusting the density of the real background by adding segment adjustment. The visual is doubled compared to the first model, and updates such as color fidelity, image quality, and text readability are also planned.
Design and features were mentioned, but a price was not disclosed. It is expected not for consumers but for business use such as medical, military, and manufacturing industries. In fact, on the occasion of the first anniversary of his inauguration, Johnson announced the direction he was going to focus on the company through a blog. This funding is important as it evolves the Magic Leap mission to change the way we work.
The transformation of the enterprise market is the change we see in AR headsets. The same goes for Microsoft HoloLens 2 and Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2. At one time, it was reported that the company’s value had dropped to $450 million, but Magic Leap was valued at $2 billion with this financing. Magic Leap 2 is scheduled to be released in 2022, and an early access program is also being prepared to experience it one step earlier. Related information can be found here.
