Facebook authentication is always required to continue using the Oculus Quest. This is because apps installed from the Oculus Quest Store are authenticated by Facebook when they start.
Ocules, released on GitHub, is a tool to remove Facebook authentication from Oculus Quest. Facebook authentication is required for initial installation, but it is freed from authentication after the introduction of Oculis. However, the Oculus Quest Store, apps installed from the store, and apps installed by default cannot be used. Instead, you can use the application from the unofficial app store, SideQuest. Various types of apps, such as multiplayer games, from storage to freeware, can be used in virtual reality.
Of course, side quests can be used on a regular basis, and Facebook is also introducing application services to the App Lab, so it can be said to be a niche tool now. However, the era may come when some form of Oculus installs custom firmware after jailbreaking that will one day gain Oculus Quest root privileges. Related information can be found here.
