Amazon has announced that it will start offering podcast transcripts on its Amazon Music app in the US. The text you want to display is automatically generated and you can play that part of the podcast by highlighting part of a word or tapping on a specific part of the text.
A similar feature was released in beta by Spotify in May. Podcasts are easy to enjoy even if you’re not in front of a display, but transcripts can be a great way to enjoy podcasts if you’re blind or unable to make a sound.
There is currently no information on whether Amazon will offer the feature outside of the US. However, podcasts are not limited to Amazon and are expected to develop in the future, as each service is a focused area.
