Facebook changed the company name to Meta and Microsoft announced Mesh for Teams, an online tool that makes Mixed Reality (MR) technology available in Teams.
The metaverse space that Meta speaks of emphasizes the image that seems to be enjoyable, but Microsoft is trying to build a business-oriented metaverse. Powerpoint and Excel are said to be installed in Metaverse. Microsoft is first testing a beta version of Teams with a digital avatar, which is expected to be released in the first half of 2022. Office functions such as PowerPoint and Excel can also be shared in the virtual world.
Since the metaverse is a new concept other than the generation that is likely to be absorbed in Second Life, it may take some time for it to be generally recognized. But CEO Satya Nadella says it will be available from now on for business purposes.
As an orientation for new employees at the time of Corona 19, Accenture created a digital twin that reproduces physical space in a virtual space using Microsoft software.
From a consumer’s point of view, one might wonder if the Meta and Microsoft’s Metaverse app could be interconnected. However, if Google also jumps into the metaverse, the battle could eventually be between Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet. Related information can be found here.
