Alphabet’s Waymo has unveiled a driverless or driverless car pickup service (Ride-Hailing).
According to Waymo, from October 8 (local time), Waymo One service members will be able to take their family and friends to the Phoenix area with a driverless pickup service. The company explained that in the near future, more people will be able to participate in the service directly through the apps available on Google Play and the App Store.
Waymo says the vehicle is 100% driverless. Waymo currently owns about 600 vehicles, of which 300 to 400 are located in the Phoenix area. Waymo did not disclose the exact number of how many of these vehicles were dedicated to driverless use.
Waymo plans to resume providing vehicles through operators this year and increase the number of vehicles to serve a wider area. In-vehicle barriers are also being added between the rear seats for hygiene and safety in the vehicle.
Waymo added new safety rules, such as making it mandatory for users to wear a mask and preparing hand sanitizer for all vehicles, increasing the amount of air entering the vehicle 4 to 5 times, and making it clean after every ride. In addition, the Jaguar I-Pace will soon be added, which will be tested on the road first and added to the early boarding program. Related information can be found here.
