Cleaton CR700W motorcycle with rotary engine

The CR700W is a motorcycle with a new rotary engine introduced by Crighton Motorcycle.

This two-rotor engine unit has 220 horsepower, 10,500 rpm and 105 lb-ft, 9,500 rpm specifications. The simple rotary engine structure and light weight are advantages in that the weight of the powertrain including the gearbox and clutch is only 43kg.

The engine itself is lightweight by using cast aluminum for the housing, and the seals where the rotor and housing come into contact with the sliding surfaces are made of silicon nitride ceramics. All other friction areas were plated with molybdenum and nicacyl plating coatings. Clinton says there is no wear and tear.

The body itself uses a lot of lightweight parts such as the 7000 series aluminum alloy chassis made by Sponge Phone and Dymag carbon wheels, so the total weight is 130 kg.

The rotary engine combines light weight and compactness. Because there is no piston, the vibration is small and the high rotation range rotates without stress. Also, the exhaust sound is completely different from that of a reciprocating engine.

This motorcycle is limited to 25 units. The price is $116,000. Related information can be found here.
