Wheelchair mount… Control your iPad with your eyes

TD Pilot is a product that allows you to manipulate the iPad with your eyes. Tobii Dynavox, an eye-tracking company, has been working with Apple for several years to develop the product. TD Pilot, born of these efforts, aims to provide an iPad experience to an estimated 50 million people worldwide who need communication support.

The TD Pilot is basically a frame for iPad, and it is also equipped with a large speaker, an extended battery, and a wheelchair mount in response to a larger size such as the iPad Pro 12.9 inch. It is also waterproof and dustproof, so it can be used on a rainy day or when taking a shower.

In addition, the partner window can read what the TD pilot user wants to talk, so you can enjoy a more natural conversation. The most important of these is that it is equipped with the latest eye tracking sensor developed by Toby. The sensor is powerful enough to work in bright sunlight, and is said to be capable of playing some iPadOS games, unless extremely fast movements are required.

It is said that the total cost of the TD Pilot, excluding the iPad, may reach $10,000, as it has such high performance. Toby says it already has 400 insurance contracts, and says that users who are covered by Medicare and Medicaid don’t necessarily pay the full amount. Of course, only a limited number of people have access to Medicare and Medicaid. More public support systems may be needed to reach more people with advanced accessibility benefits.
