Roblox sued Ruben Sim, a YouTuber with over 760,000 subscribers, claiming that Roblox committed illegal acts aimed at harming the company and its users.
On November 23, 2021 (local time), Roblox filed a lawsuit in California, USA, accusing Ruben Sim and Benjamin Robert Simon of committing illegal acts aimed at harming Roblox and its users. Roblox is demanding $1.6 million in damages in the lawsuit.
He is known as a content creator who has been posting videos about Roblox for a long time, but recently his account was banned from Roblox, making him unable to play the game. However, he hacked Roblox and continues to play Roblox using accounts created by others. Roblox said Simon had harassed users, used racist and homophobic slang, sexually harassed them, and banned the account for posting pictures of Hitler. Moreover, Roblox pointed out that he is making money by uploading such radical content to YouTube channels.
Roblox held the Roblox Developers Conference, a developer conference, in San Francisco, USA in October 2021. Roblox claims that Simon urged his followers to open fire on Roblox to delay the event. Even during the event, Simon was found to have tweeted about the event, saying that the infamous Islamic extremist group was looking into the event.
In a tweet from Simon, Roblox said it had been forced to work with local police and private security companies to inspect the facilities hosting the Roblogit Developers Conference and temporarily suspend the event. The tweet claimed that the operation of the event had been disrupted. Moreover, it also revealed that a facility inspection cost $50,000.
