ISO, Drones published draft standard

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published draft international standards for drone. It is expected to be officially adopted by next year after collecting opinions by January 2019.

Unfortunately, the draft itself can not be seen except by workgroup members. Of course, some drafts are open. Some of the drone-related standards ISO / DIS 21384 draft 3 can be seen, and the definitions and terminology of the drones are defined. However, specific details can not be confirmed.

However, according to the report, it is said that it contains contents such as providing a sufficient distance from the airport or confidential facilities as a no-fly zone to prevent the restricted airspace flight and to introduce the geofence technology for this purpose.

Other flight records, training, and maintenance requirements are also identified, and pilots are proposing rules to respect privacy and data protection. It is important to note that a fail-safe means is required for human intervention in all drone flights.

Even if not ISO, there are already operating rules for each country. However, if the international standard is decided, the regulation can be unified by each country. It can be expected that there is no need to define country by country.

For drone pilots, flying a dron on a trip can break down the country’s dron regulations, which can lead to fines or fordone confiscation, but this can be reduced. Also, we are considering the courier services using drones, but as the unified operating rules can be determined, we can expect to activate the service using drones as well.

In addition to this draft, future specification of drones such as flight management and manufacturing quality will be added. For more information, please click here .
