Samsung Electronics and U.S. stunt driver Van Gitting Jr showed spectacular drift driving through the Lincoln MKZ S-Drone, which was modified to be remotely controlled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England.
The system was developed by a startup Designated Driver based in Portland, Oregon, USA. The company demonstrated a scene of remote control in real time through a driving controller installed a few miles away from the Goodwood Festival using the Vodafone 5G network.
The S drone is equipped with two Galaxy smartphones and a camera sensor on the roof with the windows completely covered. Through this, the video is transmitted to a remote driver. However, with drift driving, even if video delay occurs for only 1 second, the vehicle body may lose balance and collide. It is to solve this through 5G network.
The video was taken a few days before the start of the festival, but it is said that the demonstration was conducted during the actual festival period. Related information can be found here .
