Kentucky Fried Chicken KFC has begun offering Beyond Fried Chicken trials using artificial vegetable chicken at a store located in Atlanta, USA. Founder Kernel Sanders may not have thought that the era of offering a menu using chicken meat that was not like chicken would have come.
Of course, until now, artificial meat hamburgers made by Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods have been released. In the case of fried chicken, you may be wondering how to reproduce the difference in texture and juice depending on the part where the chicken is cooked as it is. Foreign media are saying that KFC will test the nuggets and wings.
Beyond Meat introduced 100% vegetable chicken for grocery stores earlier this year, but stopped selling it because it was not yet satisfactory. The KFC admitted meeting with the supplier several months ago to investigate non-meat chicken, but no specific plans have been communicated so far.
Beyond fried chicken, which was introduced this time, is cooked with pliers like regular chicken, so it may not be suitable for thorough vegan people.
KFC’s Beyond Fried Chicken went on sale on August 27 at its Atlanta store and sold out in just five hours. Popcorn Chicken, a popular menu item, sold a week’s worth of money in a short time. KFC is saying that if the customer response is good, it will make a decision to go to the next step. If this is the case, the number of stores may be expanded. Beyond Meat can again sell 100% vegetable chicken at grocery stores.
Meanwhile, Impossible Foods also revealed plans to launch an artificial vegetable sausage in May. Competition over the artificial meat market is expected to intensify. Related information can be found here .
