“Birth of a giant educational toy manufacturer” Spiro acquired Little Beats

Last year, Sphero announced that it would stop producing robot toys based on popular characters such as R2-D2 and BB-8. It is part of a strategy to focus on the education market. Such Spiro acquired littleBits, a manufacturer of electronic tool kits, and established itself as a giant educational toy manufacturer focusing on STEAM.

Like Spiro, Little Beats, which was acquired this time, is a company that focuses on STEAM and is well known for electronic components that connect using magnets instead of soldering. Over the next few years, it has been creating electronic synthesizer kits that can be integrated with smartphones to allow complex programming.

With this acquisition, Spiro will be able to manage a variety of patents owned by Little Beats, ranging from robotics, software and IoT. Since this announcement did not mention any new product launches, it is not yet known whether Spiro will continue the Little Beats series or will integrate with its own technology.

Also, Little Beats founder Ayah Bdeir does not join Spiro. It is still unknown what his decision will mean for the Little Beats lineup. Related information can be found here .
