Microsoft founder Bill Gates ordered the Sinot Aqua, a superyacht that sails on an eco-friendly hydrogen fuel cell system.
The cost of this ship is a whopping 644 million dollars (764.4 billion won). It is a huge ship with a total length of 113m and has 5 decks, with 14 guests and 31 crew on board. It also supplies fuel to a liquid hydrogen tank to drive two IMW motors. With 28 tons of liquid hydrogen cooled in two tanks, it can sail 6,035km without refueling at a top speed of 32km/h.
It may be difficult to say that Synot Aqua is a completely eco-friendly ship with diesel engines as an emergency backup power source. However, there are not many ports with hydrogen supply stations, and diesel engines are likely to be needed for safety. Synot Aqua is expected to be delivered after 2024.
Bill Gates is said to be the second boubba in the world, but he has not actually owned such a ship so far, but was a regular customer on loan.
This purchase may be a demonstration of Bill Gates’ thoughts on protecting the environment. Bill Gates also donated $100 million to help combat the coronavirus. Related information can be found here .
