When it gets dirty… Smart diapers that automatically send notifications

The MIT research team has developed an RFID sensor that sends notifications to detect diaper contamination.

If your baby’s diaper gets dirty, you want to change it right away. The RFID sensor developed this time is built into the hydrogel used in disposable diapers. The water-soaked hydrogel expands and has enough conductivity for the RFID sensor to send a signal to the reader within a 1m radius. No battery is required for this operation.

The signal sent in this way can, for example, send an alarm to a smartphone app, make a phone call, or send a signal to a small device. This way, you’ll notice that the diaper is dirty. The RFID sensor is also inexpensive and can be integrated into any diaper. With the help of these smart products, it seems that babies can sleep comfortably and parents can save effort.
