Samsung Electronics announced that it has started mass production of 16GB LPDDR5 DRAM.
LPDDR5 16GB adopts the 2nd generation 10nm manufacturing process, and its data transmission speed reaches 5,500Mbps, and it realizes 30% performance improvement over 8GB LPDDR4X 4266Mbps. According to Samsung Electronics, this product will help improve data capacity and processing speed in the 5G era or in smartphones using AI. It also explains that it is useful for high-quality gaming experiences.
LPDDR5 16GB is already being adopted in the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Therefore, other smartphones with this product are expected to appear soon. Samsung Electronics is also developing a 16Gb LPDDR5 that adopts the 3rd generation 10nm manufacturing process, and this product is expected to reach a data transmission rate of 7400Mb/sec.
