A deGoogled version, which does not contain Google products, appeared on the smartphone Fairphone 3, developed and sold by Dutch startup Fairphone.
The Talgogle Fairphone series is a terminal developed with the goal of eco-friendly smartphones. The internal parts are modularized so that it can be repaired and used for a long time. In fact, it received a perfect score in the evaluation of the difficulty of repairing iFixit, which is known as the overhaul repair report.
In addition, it is a product that cooperates with NGOs in various regions to ensure that appropriate salaries and working conditions are achieved from the procurement of raw materials for assembly production. The newly released Fairphone 3 is a non-Google version, but the hardware itself is the same as the previous model. Its main specifications are Qualcomm Snapdragon 681 on a 5.7-inch full HD liquid crystal panel, and 4GB of RAM.
Of course, the difference between this version is that the operating system is different. Google service GMS was missing, and in cooperation with the French /e/ Foundation, which is trying to protect personal information, it changed from Android 9 to /e/ OS. This operating system is based on CynogenMod, derived from Android AOSP, and LinegeOS, derived from Android. It is an operating system that considers personal information by deleting many codes that transmit personal information to a remote server without user consent.
In addition, Google Play is of course not available because it does not have GMS, but we have prepared our own application directory consisting of open source applications. Registered applications scored 0-10 points for their own personal information evaluation. For reference, the existing Fairphone 3 can also be updated to /e/ OS. Related information can be found here .
