The Microsoft OneDrive app has a convenient function to scan documents taken with a smartphone and convert them into PDF files. However, with a free account, only one page can be scanned at a time, and only those with a paid Microsoft 365 account could PDF files of multiple pages at once.
By the way, Microsoft has lifted this restriction and announced that even a free account can scan up to 10 pages per document. It is available on the latest version of the OneDrive app for Android and iOS.
In the mobile OneDrive app, you can search for actual documents, business cards, and whiteboards by touching the camera icon. Scanned images can be saved as PDF files, shared, or put into text, images, handwriting, and drawings.
According to Microsoft’s announcement, the reason for the easing of this restriction is that few people can use office equipment such as printers or scanners because many people work from home. Until now, the Microsoft 365 subscription premium feature that allows you to scan multiple pages and save as a single document is open to personal accounts that do not have a subscription contract.
If you scan per page, even a PDF does not differ much from a JPEG file, but if you have multiple pages, it can be advantageous in size. If it’s 10 pages long, you can store resumes and manuals to some extent, and it seems that it can be used not only for individuals but also for work.
Microsoft responds to the demand for remote work in the Corona 19 situation and provides free for the first six months to new subscribers of Microsoft 365 Business Basic, a small business cloud service. Related information can be found here .
