British apparel maker Vollebak introduced the Full Metal Jacket, an antibacterial jacket woven with 11 km long copper fiber.
It is made of 65% copper. Through this, it is said that it was developed to prove the possibility of whether it can fight not only Corona 19 but also other pathogens, and how far it can be made of copper.
In addition to full-metal jackets, the idea products born of the Corona 19 outbreak include bomb-type touch tools made of key chains without the need to touch public objects, and copper fiber sheet masks with antiviral effects. Bollebag also paid attention to the fact that copper is known to have antibacterial properties.
However, Bolebag said that it has conducted research so that it can be a valid material not only in Corona 19 but also in the future, while experimenting with what material to use in the next step from the first step to making the jacket. Because copper is conductive, it has the potential to embed specific devices or become smart.
When copper rusts, patina occurs, but the copper thread for sewing was covered with a waterproof film (c_change). This is why it feels like a normal jacket that doesn’t feel metallic even if you touch it, contrary to its metallic appearance. Of course, copper is also a relatively soft metal.
Full metal jackets are divided into six sizes, from XS to XXL. The color is black, but it is said that copper color gradually emerges with aging. It is waterproof, windproof, and breathable, and has a fleece lining and pockets. The price is $1,095. Related information can be found here .
