Facebook to introduce Collab for remote music sessions

Collab was released by Facebook on May 27th (local time), and it is an app with the concept of creating music by combining several pieces of music.

This app was created by an in-house team (New Product Experimentation) that develops experimental apps. You can create new music by combining other music videos registered in your own music video. For example, it combines a video containing the sound of a guitar played by oneself and another person’s piano.

The song combination screen is displayed in 3 vertical lines and the video is played. Swipe left or right for each video to play another new video. You can find a combination by frequently changing two other videos based on a video you subscribe to or a favorite video registered by another user. No complicated or professional work is required.

You can register and post the created video or share it on social media such as Instagram or Facebook. Other users can combine new music videos with their registered songs. For example, you can repeat a music mix with a far-off friend who is hard to meet in person, and do something like a remote session.

Collab is currently in beta stage and only iOS version is available, and it is an invitation system, so you must register on the site and receive an invitation to use it. It is also targeting only US and Canadian users. Related information can be found here .
