Taiwanese EV bike manufacturer Gogoro has unveiled two types of electric bikes, Eeyo 1 and 1s, in the form of cross bikes with a streamlined pipe frame.
The Iyo series realized a light weight of 11.8kg thanks to the use of reinforced carbon fiber used in bulletproof materials, and it runs at a speed of 30km/h using a rear wheel hub motor. In addition, it is an electric assist bicycle with a range of 88km by adding a 123.4Wh battery. Of course, the distance of 88 km is based on energy saving mode. If you choose the sport mode, it is reduced to 64 km. In addition, the battery can be separated and charged indoors as well as locally through a small portable charger.
The hub motor is contributing to weight reduction by storing the motor, rechargeable battery and torque sensor in a small space called Iyo Smart Wheel. In addition, it has the smartness to somehow go to the destination in energy saving mode due to insufficient battery power, and the non-chain Gate carbon drive helps smooth and stable driving.
Iyo 1 is automatically locked when the owner leaves the vehicle by linking with a dedicated app and Bluetooth. In addition, firmware updates are made over the air, and in the future, health fitness and connectivity and driving data analysis functions will be added through the app.
Gogoro announced the scooter-type EV model in 2015 and installed 1,691 charging stations in Taiwan. Providing a replaceable battery that can be replaced at the charging station when the charging time is approaching. It is said that battery replacement is performed about 200,000 times a day. However, some users said they couldn’t meet the demand for scooters, leading to the production of electric bikes.
Iyo 1 is $3,899 and Iyo 1s is $4,599. The difference between the two models is that the Iyo 1 is made of alloy seatposts, handles, and wheels, while the Iyo 1s is made of carbon fiber. For this reason, the weight of Iyo 1 is 12.5 kg, but Iyo 1s is 12 kg. Related information can be found here.
