Will Instagram be a higher news source than Twitter?

Instagram is becoming an important source of news for younger age groups, according to a recent report released by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, a think tank that conducts research on news media at Oxford University.

According to a 2020 digital news report released by the institute, Instagram has become an important news source for young ages 18-24. Accordingly, the news shared through Instagram has more than doubled since 2018. Instagram is very popular among young people, and it is explained that it is because young people respond well to stories mentioned as visual images shared through Instagram.

The findings of the social media research I used to check the news a week also tells me this. The survey targets 24,000 people from 12 countries in the UK, USA, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Japan, Australia and Brazil. As of 2014, only 2% of Instagram did not use the news. However, the usage has gradually increased, reaching 11% by 2020. On the other hand, Twitter accounted for 12% in 2020. The report predicts that Instagram will surpass Twitter by 2021. In addition, the media most used for checking news is Facebook (36%), and YouTube (21%).

According to a report, in the UK, nearly a quarter of 18-24 year olds are sending information about Corona 19 using Instagram. However, the survey also revealed that social media such as Instagram are the least trusted sources of information. 59% of the respondents said they trusted the information sent by the government and the media, but only 26% said they trusted news from social media sources. In addition, more than one-third of survey respondents are using Instagram, and more than two-thirds of those under the age of 25 are Instagram users. Related information can be found here .

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
