BOSCH has developed a new chip that uses AI to learn all activities. Through this, when a sports player trains, a fitness tracker can be learned to detect and record each exercise. The fitness tracker on sale is getting smarter, but it can solve the challenge of recognizing only some movements, such as running and swimming, compared to athletes doing various sports training.
Until now, technologies such as GPS and advanced gyroscopes allow you to recognize how fast you can run, improve processor capabilities, understand the differences, such as swimming strokes and bicycling, and collect accurate measurements during exercise. However, there was also an ambiguous part, such as the specific swimming method in swimming was not considered. Bosch Sensortec is said to be able to learn and automatically recognize specific movements with a new motion sensor using AI.
The BHI260AP, a self-learning AI sensor, is small enough to fit in wearables or wireless headphones, and includes more than 15 pre-trained fitness activities. These pre-learned activities can be tailored to the user’s specific skill or style, and in addition to the collected data, the accuracy of indicators such as calories can be improved.
Because AI is built into the motion sensor, it is said that all learning using AI takes place within the chip without having to connect a smartphone and wait for synchronized data analysis during the training period.
When you are done learning a new activity, you have to manually select one from the list. Motion sensors are smart enough to recognize activities they already know and automatically start tracking specific routine statistics. When a user does a weightlifting for about 20 minutes, a detailed breakdown of all calories performed or bench presses is retrieved. You can even send a warning to the user if the form is a little out of place.
Bosch says there are no consumer devices yet equipped with the BHI260AP self-learning AI sensor, but the hardware itself is currently available to developers and OEMs. Related information can be found here .
