Ransomware is targeting even kindergarten children

The spread of Corona 19 has also caused children to increase internet access. However, the US government issued a statement warning that there were hackers targeting school correspondence education programs. The FBI, CISA, and MS-ISAC warned that malicious hackers are targeting educational institutions from kindergarten to high school and can cause ransomware attacks, data theft, and halting distance learning. Hackers see it as a target of opportunity to attack schools, and this move is expected to continue in 2021 as well as 2020.

Ransomware is a threat that encrypts the target file data and asks you to pay a ransom if you don’t want to leak the data. According to reports, in September, when Clark County in Las Vegas rejected a request for ransom payment, personal information of students in the school district was leaked. If personal information is leaked, crime may occur based on that information. If personal information of kindergarten students is leaked, sexual crimes targeting infants may occur. This can lead to parents moving for safety. Considering the damage, the target school may be forced to pay money.
