Konikore is a California-based startup that develops a robot that detects explosives by smell. Just as a drug dog finds a suspicious person with a smell, Conicor is a robot that detects the smell of explosives and is expected to be used in airports and stadiums. But what if this robot could also be used to detect the Corona 19 virus?
We are often told that certain diseases lead to certain viruses, certain smells, and that animals can smell them. Conicor says that odors can make it possible to recognize certain viruses in explosives. Since VoC, a volatile organic compound contained in human breath, is detected, if such a function is realized, the test can be performed by simply breathing toward the robot.
Currently, the Konioker robot is said to be successfully separating influenza type A in the clinical trial stage. Reservations are already being accepted through the site, and a corona 19 detection robot is also being developed with biotech consulting company Treximo. In the first half of next year, it is planning to apply for emergency use authorization to the FDA of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Non-contact robots that detect by smell can be expected to be used in various ways. Related information can be found here .
