Asus announced the ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro, gaming smartphones. After the announcement of Rogue Phone 5, Pro, and Ultimate in March, the next-generation minor change version appeared relatively quickly.
The biggest eye-catching upgrade in Rogue Phone 5s and Pro is that the SoC is replaced with Qualcomm 888+ 5G. The feature of the Snapdragon 888+ is that the CPU Kryo 680 operating clock has been raised to 3GHz. The AI performance has also been strengthened from 26 TOPS to 32 TOPS. This can be expected to improve game performance. The input accuracy has also been improved to match the SoC. The touch sampling rate that detects screen touch is accelerating further from 300Hz to 360Hz in the previous model.
The Rogue Phone series is characterized by being equipped with various game functions. This series has inherited the existing functions. AirTrigger 5, which realizes a game controller-like operation with a touch mounted on the body, is also available.
In addition, various options are supported, such as AeroActive Cooler 5, an external cooling system using a small fan, and ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad, a game controller that is inserted into a smartphone.
Other basic specifications almost follow the previous model. The display is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that operates at 144Hz, with a maximum of 18GB of RAM and a maximum of 512GB of storage, the rear camera is 64 million pixels, and the front camera is 24 million pixels. The difference between the standard model and the pro model is the presence or absence of ROG Vision, a secondary display for displaying calls and notifications on the back.
The Rogue Phone 5s starts at USD 29,990 and the Rogue Phone 5s Pro starts at USD 37,990. Related information can be found here.
