Abolition of 3-digit model name… Qualcomm changes processor naming conventions

Qualcomm has changed the mobile processor naming rules and announced that the next processor will be called the Snapdragon 8-Series.

So far, Qualcomm has adopted a three-digit model number for its mobile products, for example the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G. On the other hand, it was an impression that there was not a sense of unity in the naming rules, such as the release of the Snapdragon 8cx for laptops.

Details of the new naming convention have not been revealed at this point, but according to Ice universe, the first product in the 8-series will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen1. Subsequent products seem to be in the form of increased numbers after Gen such as Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and Gen3.

So far, Qualcomm has developed the 8xx series for the high-end, the 7xx and 6xx for the mid-range, and the 4xx and 2xx series for the low-end as the Snapdragon series for mobile. Interest is also focused on whether these other products will also change to the 7-series- and 6-series.

Qualcomm will hold the Snapdragon Tech Summit on November 30 to reveal details about the next processor. Related information can be found here.
