Netflix introduces ranking function

Netflix introduced a new ranking feature on February 24th (local time). Even if you open Netflix on any device, such as TV or mobile, you can view today’s total TOP10, movies, TOP10, TV shows, etc.

This ranking, presented in 100 countries around the world, is calculated based on users from all over the world watching over 2 minutes by pressing the play button. In other words, it is not a global ranking, but a show that is popular in the country. Regardless of the genre, the rankings were made by category, including general rankings, movies and TV programs, and it is said to be updated every morning at 4 o’clock. For works that have entered the ranking, the TOP10 mark is displayed on the upper right.

According to Netflix, rankings don’t necessarily appear every day to all users. If the work in the ranking is close to the taste of the celebrity, Netflix displays the TOP10 at the top of it. Some people have two rankings, but some people can’t see it at all, and it depends on the location, number, and popular work on the date. It chose a structure that suits the similarity of the work or the user’s taste.

The reason for the introduction of TOP10 is that as a result of conducting user tests in the UK and Mexico, the test was introduced in two countries with different user characteristics over the past six months, and it was explained that there was a high demand for ranking. It started with the goal of reducing the time to search for works and increasing the time to watch videos. Related information can be found here .
