Microsoft announced on February 26 (local time) that its blind support application, Microsoft Soundscape, will support Bose Frames, Bose’s speaker sunglasses.
Soundscape is an iOS app released in the US and UK. When a user passes a target place, such as a road or a building, it notifies them with a voice and makes it easier to recognize where they are. It adopts 3D audio technology and transmits information such as surrounding buildings or roads according to the direction. For example, if there is a building on the right, the sound can be heard from the right. To do this, you need a stereo headset, but it also supports new boss frames. The Boss Frame is equipped with a 9-axis motion sensor, enabling more detailed navigation than when using existing earphones or headphones.
People easily adjust the position of their face or head in the direction of the sound to make it easier to understand the noise, but the boss frame sensor detects this movement and allows the wearer to determine the more accurate position through the soundscape.
For voice navigation, Google Maps also provides voice guides for the visually impaired. Soundscape focuses on telling you what’s around you rather than navigating to your destination. Related information can be found here .
